The Williamsbridge Oval Afterschool Program had a wonderful time learning that it is better to give then to receive. Our children went out into the community of Bronx, NY near our Recreation Center to give a gift to a child. The Children from WBO were so over-whelmed with the gift of giving and were wishing we had more to give. They learned how good it felt to be on the giving end of Christmas and how much it meant to other children and their parents.

The Parent's and some of the children of the Community asked"Where are you all from" How can we enroll our children into your program?" The Kids proudly told them "We are From Williamsbridge Oval Afterschool Program". The Staff Proudly showed off their Name tags and showed off where we were and our location and also invited the parents to drop by and check out our Center and Afterschool Program.

A wonderful way to end the year.

Williamsbridge Oval's Afterschool Program Reading & Racquets Programming

Welcome to the Williamsbridge Oval Afterschool Workshop

Introducing the Reading & Racquets Program.

The Afterschool Children participated in their first workshop of the year with our Reading and Racquets Program. The Reading and Racquets Programs consist of children who extra help with reading and writing received a one on one with our Reading Consultant Mi'chal Richards. This program is a part of the City Parks Foundation. Our Program bring to the children here at Williamsbridge Oval (WBO) wonderful workshops and Tennis during the spring and summer month. All of our children receive extra workshops such as, Music, History, Healthy Eating workshops for kid and their parents and at the end of the year we celebrate with a Family Barbcue for the parents and their children. Our recent workshop was on held on November 24th with featuring a Brazilian Music History Workshop. The Children learned of the history and the different types of musical instruments used in Brazil

WBO's Urban Parks Rangers Programming

On November 15, 2008 the City of New York Parks & Recreation's Urban Parks Ranger's Program brought a delightful program to The Williamsbridge Oval Afterschool Program. The children participated in learning about the trees that beautify our parks in the Bronx. Our Parks Rangers brought new and exciting games for the children to create and showed them how to take a tree bark and make it whistle. These are just some of the many programming that our children participate in during their time spent here in the Williamsbridge Oval Afterschool Program.

Williamsbridge Oval Afterschool show off their Thanksgiving Poetry they have created in our computer labs with Mr. Albert Davis-Computer Coordinator and some of their Orgami and Creative Arts with Ms. Deborah Edwards-Afterschool Coordinator and Ms. Ani Rivas -Afterschool Staff.

The Williamsbridge Oval Afterschool Children learned the policies of voting. The Students here worked together with their peers to develop the responsiblity and the rights they hold to become well informed voters. The children nominated each other, held campaigns, and elected each other into office for President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, Peace Maker, and Friendship-Governor of their Afterschool Program. Elected into office were: Winifer Pimentel Age 12 as President, Gleymy Garcia Age 11 as Vice-President, Ashley Muniz Age 11 as Secretary, Jasmine Carswell Age 12 as Treasurer, Neah Banks Age 11 as Peace-Maker & Christopher Santiago Age 12 as Friendship-Governor.

Williamsbridge Oval Afterschool Program

The Williamsbridge Oval Afterschool Program is a Program that services the children in the community of Bronx, New York. Our center is a safe haven for children ages 6-12 years of age. The children here are Developmental Asset enriched. We follow a programming of various structured educational, artistic, & creatively brilliant programs for children. WBO is a safe haven where our children feel welcomed and opened to their Afterschool instructors while their parents are working or in school. Deborah Edwards Afterschool Coordinator

Our Parents are a big part of our support team here at Williamsbridge Oval Afterschool Program. The Parents come out to watch the children perform and celebrate Halloween with the children.

Golfing

Williamsbridge Oval Afterschool Program's children have had a delightful time learning the basic skills of Golfing. Our Computer Resource Coordinator Mr. Albert Davis and our Afterschool staff make sure the children recieved Golf Lessons once a week at the Moshula Golf Courses in the Bronx. As you can see nothing but smiles on the faces of our children.
